The Federal Government of Nigeria established the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF or “the Fund”) via an act of the National Assembly, known as the National Agricultural Development Fund (Establishment) Act 2022 (Act No 34, 2022). The Fund was established to address the constraints of agricultural finance and to enhance the potentials of the agriculture and food systems; the overall objective being to promote agricultural development and food security in the country.
Limited access to financing has held back agricultural growth and the full potential of the nation’s food systems. NADF was created to bridge this gap and empower a thriving agricultural sector that nourishes Nigeria’s future.
Overarching Goal:
To catalyze financing and collaboration across the agricultural sector, unlocking its potential to improve productivity, ensure food security, and drive inclusive socio-economic development.
Mission: To harness the transformative power of agricultural development for socio-economic growth by providing support and inclusive financing in a sustainable manner.
Vision: To be the leading development fund for agricultural growth, sustainability, and economic prosperity.
NADF acts as a catalyst for change, working to:
- Empower Farmers: We bridge the funding gap by creating accessible financial products and loan guarantee programs, tailored to the needs of Nigerian farmers.
- Drive Innovation: We promote the adoption of modern technologies and practices, from precision agriculture to climate-smart solutions, to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Strengthen the Ecosystem: We invest in research, capacity building, and market information systems, fostering a knowledge-driven agricultural sector.
- Ensure Food Security: We support increased food production across various value chains, contributing to a more secure and stable food supply for Nigeria’s growing population.
