The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) In the renewed determination of the Federal Government to tackle conscientiously, security challenges facing the country and to enhance the funding capacity to the Nigeria Police Force, an Executive Bill was presented to the National Assembly for an Act to establish the Police Trust Fund.
Accordingly, the Bill was considered and passed by 8th National Assembly. Thereafter, on 24th June, 2019, the Bill was signed into Law by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR as “the Nigeria Police Trust Fund Establishment Act, 2019”.
Consequently, the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, on 18th of October, 2019 inaugurated a 13 Man Ministerial Implementation Committee to draw up the institutional and operational structure for the take-off of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund. The Committee completed its assignment and the Report was submitted to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with appropriate recommendations. Following the approval of the Report, by Mr. President, an Eight-Man, the Board of Trustees was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs on 18th May, 2020.

Objective
The Objective of Nigeria Police Trust Fund is to provide adequate resources for the training and re-training of personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the provision of the state of the art security equipment and other related facilities for the enhancement of the skill of the personnel of the Nigeria Police in handling of operational equipment and machineries.

Specific Objectives
- Adequately train and retrain the personnel and other auxiliary staff of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) within and outside the country.
- Inculcate the skills and professionalism into the personnel and auxiliary staff of the Nigeria Police Force on the use of operational and state of the art equipment and machines.
- Promote the holistic improvement in the performance and efficient discharge of the duties and responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force.
- Ensure that a state of the art equipment, machines and operational vehicles are provided for the Nigeria Police Force to enhance its optimal performance.
- Provide adequate office and residential accommodation for the Nigeria Police Force through massive rehabilitation and construction of Police Stations, Quarters and Barracks.
- To ensure that the Police Colleges and such other similar training Institutions are sufficiently equipped with relevant books, instructional materials, training equipment in order to enhance their effectiveness.
- Ensure that personnel of the Nigeria Police Force are adequately exposed to emerging technologies and global best practice in modern policing, intelligence gathering and others, through local and international seminars, conferences, etc.
