An Act to establish the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, among other things, to share Nigeria’s know-how and expertise with other African, Caribbean and Pacific countries and matters connected therewith.
Objectives of the Corps
The objectives of the Corps are to–
- Share Nigeria’s know-how and expertise with other African, Caribbean and
- Pacific countries (in this Act referred to as “recipient countries”);
- Give assistance on the basis of the assessed and perceived needs of the recipient countries;
- Promote cooperation and understanding between Nigeria and the recipient countries; and
- Facilitate meaningful contacts between the youths of Nigeria and those of the recipient countries.
Functions of the Directorate
The Directorate shall be responsible for-
- The overall management and general administration of the Corps;
- Recruiting volunteers of the Corps;
- Organising orientation courses for selected volunteers of the Corps;
- Assessing and reviewing, from time to time, the progress of the Corps;
- Assigning selected volunteers to recipient countries;
- Maintaining regular contacts with recipient countries to determine their technical aid needs;
- Receiving and debriefing volunteers on their return from recipient countries after their service in those countries;
- carrying out such other activities that are connected with or incidental to its functions or the objectives of the Corps under this Act.
